Video of Sekolah Rakyat Student Played at 80th Bhayangkara Day Commemoration

There was something different about the ceremony and thanksgiving for the 80th Bhaylagara Day in 2026 at the Nagara Janottama Field, Satlat Brimob Korbrimob Polri, Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. Within the event themed “80 Years of Service, Polri for the People”, a video was screened featuring M. Fikri Ibrahim, a six-year-old student at the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 4 Sumedang.

Fikri’s story touched many hearts; his life is not like that of other children. While other children are busy playing, Fikri was forced to scavenge through rubbish, searching for used bottles to sell to make a living. A video of Fikri searching for items on the streets even went viral some time ago.

Since enrolling in the Sekolah Rakyat, Fikri’s life has changed; he now wears a clean uniform instead of tattered and dirty clothes. His meals are more regular and nutritious, supplemented by a much better environment through the guidance of teachers and educational staff at the Sekolah Rakyat.

Fikri is one of many children experiencing the benefits of the Sekolah Rakyat programme, an idea proposed by President Prabowo Subianto. His story serves as tangible evidence that many children from impoverished families still require access to education, and that education can serve as a way to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

President Prabowo Subianto, who attended the event, stated that poverty remains a major challenge within Indonesian society. “Our people are still suffering from poverty, and this poverty is a direct consequence of corruption, embezzlement, and illegal economic activities,” he said, accompanied by Vice President Garsub Rakabuming Raka and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The President emphasised that the law must be enforced against such deviations without discrimination; the law must be respected, valued, and serve as a protector of the people. “There must be no abuse of authority, and no one shall be immune to the law. I reiterate, the weakest citizens must receive protection, and those seeking truth and justice must be served.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, expressed gratitude for the dedication of the police, who assist significantly in the field alongside the TNI, particularly in strengthening the discipline of Sekolah Rakyat students.

Also in attendance at the event were the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo; the 10th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani; the Speaker of the Regional Representative Council, Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin; the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sunarto; high-ranking officials of state institutions; members of the Coordinating Ministers and the Red and White Cabinet; and other relevant stakeholders.
