Video of Jokowi with Pekalongan Regent Circulating, What Was Discussed?

A video of President Joko Widodo, known as Jokowi, meeting Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq circulated again after she was caught in an operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). In the video, Jokowi appears to receive a visit from Fadia accompanied by her deputy Sukirman at the living room of his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java. ‘Mbak Fadia, Mas Firman, I entrust the Pekalongan Regency to you,’ Jokowi says in the video. It is not clear when the video was recorded. However, during the 2024 local elections, dozens of pairs for regional heads were reported to have sought Jokowi’s blessing before polling day. Jokowi has always ‘entrusted’ those areas to the candidates. When contacted, Jokowi did not deny receiving a visit from Fadia at his residence in Sumber, Solo. However, the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka confirmed that the meeting had nothing to do with the case involving Golkar politician. ‘Yes. He came here to convey an invitation to the marriage of his son and daughter,’ Jokowi said at his residence, on Friday (6 March). Jokowi stressed that he respects the ongoing legal process relating to Fadia. ‘If it’s a legal matter, we respect the law that is in progress,’ he said. Earlier, KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq in an OTT operation, Tuesday (3 March). The following day, the Golkar politician was named as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption in outsourcing services procurement and other procurement within the Pekalongan Regency Government for the 2023-2026 fiscal year. ‘Based on the sufficiency of evidence in the alleged criminal act relating to outsourcing services procurement and other procurements in the Pekalongan Regency Government for Fiscal Year 2023-2026, KPK elevated the matter to the investigative stage by designating one person as a suspect, namely Ms FAR,’ said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the Merah Putih Building, Wednesday (4 March). The KPK subsequently detained Fadia for the first 20 days from 4 to 23 March 2026 at the State Detention Centre (Rutan) Gedung Merah Putih KPK branch.
