Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) continues to pursue the acceleration of construction and development of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), which will connect Lampung to Aceh along more than 2,800 kilometres.

The President Director of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), Koentjoro, stated that Hutama Karya was assigned the JTTS development in 2014 through Presidential Regulation No. 100/2014. By 2024, 110 km have been built, successfully connecting several disrupted sections of national roads, thereby aiding the distribution of goods and boosting the regional economy.

Koentjoro exemplified the results of the Bakauheni-Lampung to Palembang toll road section, which has reduced travel time to around 4 hours from the previous 10 hours, while also developing markets, housing, and schools.

Additionally, JTTS has absorbed approximately 3.9 million workers in construction and operations and contributed Rp 124 trillion to Sumatra’s GDP. On the other hand, Hutama Karya ensures JTTS development through a green construction programme, so that toll road construction does not disrupt natural conservation areas.

In the context of the Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra floods, Hutama Karya is also playing a role in accelerating road construction and building 640 temporary housing units for disaster victims.

For more details on the JTTS development carried out by Hutama Karya, see the dialogue between Bramudya Prabowo and the President Director of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), Koentjoro, in Nation Hub, CNBC Indonesia (Wednesday, 22/04/2026).
