Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, has assured that the Ministry of Transmigration (Kementrans) is promoting the transformation of transmigration into a new centre of economic growth in Indonesia. Currently, Kementrans is encouraging the economic potential of transmigration areas, which is expected to create jobs and improve the welfare of transmigrants and surrounding regions. However, the government is urging the public to reside for a minimum of 15 years in transmigration areas to maximise the benefits of this programme. Several transmigration areas will be developed as centres for food and energy production, ranging from coconuts and coffee to industrial zones. What is the transformation like?
