Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Indonesian Financing Companies Association (APPI) chairman Suwandi Wiratno Siahaan said the country’s multifinance industry had grown by just 1.68% through August 2026, well below its target of 6–8% set at the start of the year.

From January to August 2028, the investment financing segment came under pressure as borrowers—most of them contractors—held back expansion. One contributing factor was the reduction in mining work plans and budgets (RKAB). Working capital financing grew by 4.5%, but multipurpose financing was under pressure, despite car and motorbike sales, amid a surge in electric vehicle sales.

APPI said weaker purchasing power and changing automotive purchasing trends had weighed on the growth of multifinance companies. However, financing companies continued to record net profit growth, reflecting asset quality that remained sound.

What are the business trends facing the multifinance industry in 2026? Watch the full discussion between Shania Alatas and APPI chairman Suwandi Wiratno Siahaan on Power Lunch, CNBC Indonesia, on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.
