The Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, has emphasised the importance of transforming the ecosystem of health services, access, and national health insurance by strengthening the synchronisation and cooperation between private health insurance and BPJS Kesehatan. This step is expected to complement and expand the scope of healthcare services for the Indonesian people.

The House of Representatives also seeks to ensure that the public and insurance policyholders receive maximum healthcare services amidst surging medical inflation, while ensuring the insurance industry remains capable of growth. Consequently, Commission XI is encouraging regulators at the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to adjust regulations to distribute the financial burden between the industry and policyholders. One proposed method is through a co-payment scheme, where policyholders would bear 10% of the total claim, capped at Rp300,000 for outpatient care and Rp3 million for inpatient care.
