Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry/Environmental Control Agency initiated the PROPER (Company Performance Rating Programme in Environmental Management) as a basis for evaluating companies’ compliance and transparency regarding environmental regulations, including adherence to waste management, energy efficiency, and CSR.

The Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, stated that supervision of 1,759 AMDAL business units with fewer than 3,000 supervisory personnel is conducted through an online reporting system every six months, and violators will be subject to fines and assessments.

This PROPER assessment not only succeeds in encouraging company and business world compliance with environmental management but also drives innovation that benefits energy efficiency, hazardous waste processing, and CSR utilisation.

The Ministry of Environment provides several PROPER assessment levels related to meeting regulatory standards, including the Blue predicate for companies that have compliance with regulatory standards, Green PROPER for exceeding compliance (efficiency, innovation), and Gold PROPER as the highest level due to superior environmental management and consistent sustainable social impacts.

For companies, the PROPER assessment will affect product market performance and investment attractiveness.
