Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Deputy for Cooperative Business Development at the Ministry of Cooperatives, Panel Barus, discussed the progress of building Village/Urban Village Red and White Cooperatives (KDMP), which is a priority programme of President Prabowo.

The government aims to activate/operate 30,000 village cooperatives by July-August 2026, in line with the ongoing KDMP construction data. The facilities being built include buildings for community business and economic activities such as basic goods sales units, savings and loans, warehousing, logistics transport, village clinics, and medicine outlets.

Panel Barus stated that the operational success of KDMP has three indicators: the cooperatives must address distribution problems and high logistics costs through the sale of affordable products.

Furthermore, the cooperatives must be able to provide working capital credit for rural communities to tackle the issue of moneylenders, and they must serve as off-takers (absorbers) of agricultural products/village economic activities at prices beneficial to farmers.
