Video: Losses in Umrah Travel Business as Iran–US Conflict Intensifies
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Iran–United States conflict, ongoing since 28 February 2026, has continued to widen, affecting flight disruptions and the suspension of operations at several international airports in the Middle East.
This situation has also disrupted Umrah passenger traffic to and from Saudi Arabia, although direct flights from Indonesia to Jeddah without transiting through conflict-affected countries can still operate.
Around 85 Umrah pilgrims are stranded in Saudi Arabia and unable to return to Indonesia. The situation has also led some prospective Umrah pilgrims to cancel their journeys until conditions return to normal. Moreover, the war, whose end date is unknown, could threaten the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, which is due to be held soon.
