Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Chairman of the Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI), Budi Herawan, stated three challenges facing the general insurance industry in 2026. These include global geopolitical and economic conditions affecting Indonesia, as well as regulations that remain issues to be addressed by the insurance sector to drive growth. AAUI noted that there is still potential for growth in general insurance, but global and domestic economic conditions are quite challenging, thus requiring mitigation to address the still substantial risks. Meanwhile, regarding the OJK’s support for expanding protection against bad credit risks in online loans, AAUI considers this as an opportunity but will also manage risks for insurers to accept this risk.
