Video: Indonesia's Advantages in Competing for AI-Era Data Centre Investment

The Indonesian government is promoting ease of licensing, land availability, and regulatory support alongside incentives to drive the development of Batam as a centre for data centre construction and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Southeast Asian region, according to Saribua Siahaan, Director of Regional Promotion for Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM. In an effort to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness in attracting hyperscale investment, the government is also offering the country’s large market potential. It is hoped that data centre investment will have an impact on Indonesia’s digital economy as a source of national growth.
