Video: Indonesia Purchases US Crude Oil and Fuel, Pushes for Energy Technology Transfer

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia—President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to meet President Donald Trump yielded 11 memoranda of understanding (MoU) valued at USD 38.4 billion between Indonesia and the United States.

Within the Indonesia-US trade agreement document titled Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) with the theme “Toward a New Golden Age for the US-Indonesia Alliance,” one key provision commits Indonesia to importing energy worth up to USD 15 billion, or approximately IDR 253 trillion, from the United States.

Anggawira, Special Adviser to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for Monitoring and Evaluation of Oil and Gas Infrastructure, stated that the energy sector trade agreement represents Indonesia’s effort to strengthen ties with the United States. Additionally, the agreement is expected to be mutually beneficial, allowing Indonesia to gain advantages such as the transfer of energy sector technology in both upstream oil and gas operations and liquefied natural gas (LNG) management.
