Video: Indonesia Launches Domestic Credit Card and Zero-Fee QRIS Transactions

Bank Indonesia, together with the National Payment System Association (ASPI), has launched the Kartu Kredit Indonesia as an innovation in the domestic payment system industry. In addition, BI has expanded the zero per cent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) policy for QRIS, which will take effect from 1 October 2026. The zero per cent MDR rule is aimed at micro-enterprise merchants for transactions up to Rp500,000. The implementation of zero per cent MDR has also been extended to all other merchant categories, including small, medium and large, for transactions up to Rp100,000, down from the previous rate of 0.7 per cent. This policy is expected to encourage transaction cost efficiency for businesses and expand the use of digital payment systems.
