Video: Impact of War Causes 20% Rise in Steel Pipe Industry Raw Material Prices
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesian steel pipe producers are still recording stable demand for steel pipes amid the escalation of the Iran vs US and Israel war.
However, Chief Strategy Officer of PT Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia (ISSP) or Spindo, Johanes Wahyudi Edward, stated that the ongoing uncertainty from the intensifying war is quite concerning for the steel industry. The war has only been ongoing for about one month, so its impact has not yet been strongly felt, but if the war expands, the upstream-to-downstream supply chain in the steel sector will be disrupted.
At Spindo, 55% of steel pipe raw materials come from domestic sources, but around 45% are still imported, and currently, raw materials have experienced a nearly 20% price increase, which is raising selling prices.
What is the impact of global pressures on the steel pipe industry? For more details, watch the dialogue between Shania Alatas and Chief Strategy Officer of PT Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia (ISSP) or Spindo, Johanes Wahyudi Edward, in Manufacture Check, CNBC Indonesia, Friday (11/04/2026).
