Video: IDX Head Urges Entrepreneurs to Seek Financing via Capital Markets
The first half of 2026 has presented a challenging business period for the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Jeffrey Hendrik, President Director of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI), noted that several sentiments are weighing on the Indonesian stock market, ranging from Middle East geopolitical tensions to assessments by global index providers such as MSCI and international credit rating agencies including S&P.
Amidst these challenges, the IDX has recorded several achievements, including ongoing market deepening, a 40% increase in the number of investors, and transaction values growing by over 30%.
In response to the challenges and scrutiny from MSCI-FTSE, the IDX has implemented four initiatives aimed at increasing stock transparency. These include enforcing minimum free float requirements for issuers and introducing regulations regarding high shareholding concentration (HSC).
Furthermore, the IDX is reassuring market participants and investors to utilise the capital market as a source of financing, through both the issuance of shares and the issuance of bonds.
