Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The first half of 2026 has been a challenging business period for the Indonesian stock market. PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) CEO Jeffrey Hendrik stated that several sentiments are overshadowing the Indonesian stock market, ranging from Middle East conflict turmoil to assessments by global index and market data provider MSCI and credit rating agencies including S&P. Amidst these challenges, Jeffrey Hendrik noted that the Indonesian stock market has also recorded several achievements, including ongoing market deepening, continued demand growth with a 40% increase in investor numbers, and transaction value growth exceeding 30%. In response to the challenges and concerns raised by MSCI-FTSE, the IDX has implemented four initiatives related to improving share transparency, including issuing a minimum free float requirement that must be met by issuers and issuing a High Shareholding Concentration (HSC) regulation. Furthermore, the IDX is reassuring market participants and investors to utilise the capital market as a source of financing, both through share issuance and bond issuance.
