Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia— Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr represent significant momentum for boosting Indonesia’s economy. During this period, the Indonesian population, the majority of whom are Muslim, engage in substantial shopping activities and travel, including purchases to support fasting observances and the mudik (holiday exodus) journey, which involves more than 100 million people.

The automotive sector is among the sectors benefiting from these activities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, as demand for new and secondhand vehicles increases to support mudik activities. The electric vehicle segment is currently demonstrating growth of up to 141% in 2025, whilst overall vehicle sales have declined.

Susi Setiawati, Equity Analyst at CNBC Indonesia, notes that electric vehicle prices are considered more efficient and are supported by government incentives. Against the backdrop of the current challenging economic conditions, operational savings from electric vehicles present an opportunity for people to invest in them.
