Video: How Drones Help Farmers, from Fertiliser Spreading to Harvest Transport
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The development of digital technology has also driven the use of technology in the agricultural sector, including drone technology as a solution to improve farmers’ efficiency and operations as well as boost agricultural productivity.
DJI Agriculture, a drone solutions provider, has designed drones that can assist farmers’ activities, from sowing seeds and spreading fertiliser to mapping agricultural land.
Dede Supriatna, Business Development at DJI Agriculture, said the adoption of drone technology continues to grow, particularly for planting and maintenance activities. However, adoption is still constrained by limited access to information, especially for farmers in remote areas, which is why DJI Agriculture continues to promote education so that farmers become better acquainted with the use of drones.
At present, farmers in Java, Kalimantan and Sumatra have largely become familiar with and are using drone technology, opening up opportunities for expansion into eastern Indonesia. Drones can also be used to assist logistics distribution in forest and land fire suppression efforts.
What are the prospects and challenges of drone technology utilisation? Watch the full discussion between Shania Alatas and Dede Supriatna, Business Development at DJI Agriculture, on Squank Box, CNBC Indonesia (Monday, 07/09/2026).
