Video: How Biofertilisers Help Farmers Boost Rice and Corn Production
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia- The availability of fertiliser is a crucial component needed by farmers to boost food production as part of a strategy to strengthen food security and achieve national self-sufficiency. Chief Executive Officer of PT Pramudita Darya Parma, Freddy Wijaya, identified land degradation as one of the challenges local farmers face in increasing food production. Therefore, the use of organic fertiliser is needed to restore soil fertility. PT Pramudita Darya Parma, a producer of organic fertiliser based on local wisdom and supported by research and biotechnology, continues to promote the production of organic fertiliser to gradually reduce the use of chemical fertilisers by around 10 per cent, while simultaneously helping to improve soil fertility to support food production. The use of biofertilisers, which consist of microorganisms, is also beneficial for improving soil structure and protecting plants from pest attacks.
