Video: Hit by Global Effects, EV Truck Producers Need Indonesian Government Assistance
The rising cost of imported raw material components due to the weakening Rupiah exchange rate, followed by pressure on purchasing power, poses a challenge for local electric vehicle manufacturers. CEO of PT Mobil Anak Bangsa Indonesia, Kelik Irwantono, stated that efficiency has become a necessity for electric vehicle (EV) producers facing the uncertainty of 2026. Business players also hope for government support in efforts to attract investors and EV battery manufacturers, which are the main components for Indonesia’s EV production. Additionally, entrepreneurs are hoping for incentive support for the commercial electric vehicle industry, such as buses and trucks, including support for the absorption of locally produced EVs to meet the operational needs of the government and state-owned enterprises (BUMN). Green financing is also still required.
