The government continues to push strategic measures to accelerate the Three Million Houses Programme, aimed at providing decent housing, addressing the housing backlog, and driving the national economy. As a state-owned bank primarily focused on mortgage lending, Bank BTN is ensuring its role in supporting this programme. The President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) (BBTN), Nixon Napitupulu, noted that BTN’s role in housing provision began in 1976 through mortgage programmes, with total mortgages reaching 6.1 million units to date, primarily for Low-Income Communities (MBR).

BTN’s mortgage distribution is carried out through several programmes, such as the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) and the Housing Programme Credit (KPP) for MSME entrepreneurs. To date, Rp 4.1 trillion has been disbursed against a target of Rp 10 trillion. Specifically for the three million houses project, BTN is contributing through both new house construction and renovations via the FLPP programme. However, current challenges include housing supply issues related to construction speed and the processing of permits; it is hoped that these issues can be resolved to meet BTN’s target of distributing 300,000 to 350,000 mortgage units.

BTN has implemented several programmes to accelerate mortgage distribution, including transforming business processes so that mortgages can be disbursed within 3 to 5 days through strengthened digitalisation. Additionally, the bank is driving demand through socialisation, national housing exhibitions, and offering competitive interest rate promotions for non-subsidised programmes.
