Video Hands-on Reveals Design of iPhone Ultra, Apple's First Foldable Phone

KOMPAS.com - The “real” design of Apple’s first foldable phone, rumoured to be named iPhone Ultra, has surfaced online. Previously, the iPhone Ultra was only revealed through various 3D renders of the device. The actual appearance of the iPhone Ultra was revealed in a hands-on video of a dummy model of the iPhone Ultra from China, shared by the YouTube channel “Unbox Therapy”. The YouTube channel, founded by Lewis Georgie Hilsenteger, usually shares dummy models of new smartphones that have not yet been released to the public. As with previous rumours, the iPhone Ultra held by Lewis appears to feature a book-style foldable design, but with a different screen ratio compared to most current Android foldable phones. When opened, the device’s screen appears to be wider to the side, or landscape, so its appearance is said to be more like a mini tablet than a regular smartphone. Previously, the dummy unit of the iPhone Ultra was also directly compared with a foldable phone made by Huawei, namely the Huawei Pura X Max. Lewis also compared it with a similar device that has a roughly the same screen ratio, namely the Google Pixel Fold. According to previous rumours, the iPhone Ultra will have an external display of around 5.3 to 5.5 inches. Meanwhile, the main screen on the inside is said to be in the range of 7.6 to 7.8 inches, approaching the size of the iPad Mini. In the hands-on video, Lew also highlighted the device’s design, which appears to be quite thick when folded, at around 11 mm. The thickness of the iPhone Ultra is greater than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which has a thickness of 8.8 mm. This figure has not yet been added to the camera bump, which is quite prominent, at around 5.5 mm, bringing the total thickness dimension to around 16.5 mm. The camera bump also appears to be quite large and similar to the design of the iPhone Air’s camera, but it does not extend fully to the side, only half the back of the device.
