Video: Global Turmoil, Coal Transport Issuer Secures Contracts
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesia’s maritime logistics business is feeling the impact of the Middle East conflict between Iran, the US, and Israel, which has driven up fuel prices.
As an issuer of coal transportation services, the price of fuel is considered critical for maintaining ship operations, according to Andre Kam, President Director of PT Habco Trans Maritima Tbk. Although prices have risen, government efforts to ensure the availability of domestic supplies are significantly aiding coal distribution.
On the other hand, the surge in coal selling prices has also driven up the demand for coal shipments, which helps compensate for the increase in fuel costs. Currently, HATM remains focused on meeting domestic coal requirements to support the supply for PLN (the state electricity company).
How will global geopolitical instability impact the coal transport business? What is HATM’s strategy for facing this sentiment? For more details, watch the dialogue between Serliana Salsabila and the President Director of PT Habco Trans Maritima Tbk (HATM), Andre Kam, on Closing Bell, CNBC Indonesia (Wednesday, 03/06/2026).
