Video: Giant Gas Field Discovery, Badak NGL Ready to Reactivate Refinery
The President Director & CEO of PT Badak NGL, Achmad Khoiruddin, has confirmed the company’s support in strengthening national energy security, specifically through the planned programme to convert LPG subsidies to compressed natural gas (CNG).
Currently, PT Badak NGL primarily produces Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), but it is also supporting innovations to assist government programmes. To meet national energy requirements, PT Badak NGL is focusing on driving refinery efficiency to increase LNG production, supported by the development of the LPG Production Booster System (LPBS) technology.
LNG can be utilised for mining vehicles and has potential use in railways, while the use of CNG for households is still being studied in depth to reduce LPG imports.
From the upstream sector, to meet the natural gas supply, several potential gas reserves have been identified, including the Geliga and Gula blocks, which hold a potential 7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas.
To prepare for the processing of this additional potential natural gas supply, PT Badak NGL is preparing assessments for the reactivation of refinery trains and is also preparing competent human resources for the refinery operations.
