Video: Gas Supply Restricted, Ceramic Entrepreneurs Express Concern

The glass, ceramics, and silicate industry sector is complaining about the restriction of natural gas supplies by PGN, as it threatens the sustainability of industrial production that relies on natural gas as a primary energy source.

The General Chairman of the Indonesian Ceramic Industry Association (ASAKI), Edy Suyanto, stated that gas is the lifeblood of the ceramic industry, serving as the essential fuel in ceramic production with no viable substitute.

Furthermore, gas costs represent the largest component of production costs in the ceramic process. Consequently, when supplies are restricted and prices surge, the resulting pressure on costs and production disruptions threaten the stability of the business.

Previously, President Prabowo provided positive news by reducing industrial gas prices from USD 20 per MMBTU to USD 13 per MMBTU, while also providing certainty regarding gas supply for industry. However, the issue of supply restrictions remains a significant challenge for the sector; therefore, the industry hopes for government support and solutions regarding these industrial gas issues.
