Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Middle East conflict is described by Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, as an ‘alarm’ for the Indonesian government to hasten electrification and develop new and renewable energy (EBT) electricity to curb dependence on imported BBM and LPG. The MPR fully supports the government’s steps in accelerating Indonesia’s energy transition towards Net Zero Emission 2060, including through the establishment of the Energy Transition Acceleration Task Force. However, strengthened coordination among ministries and agencies is needed to support EBT utilisation, biofuel development, and replacing diesel power plants with solar power plants. Additionally, the potential of nuclear power plants and geothermal energy presents opportunities to speed up Indonesia’s electrification.
