Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The chairman of the Association of Indonesian Electrical Equipment Producers (APPI), Yohanes Purnawan Widjaja, has confirmed the readiness of Indonesia’s electrical equipment industry to support the government’s electricity generation target outlined in PT PLN (Persero)’s 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), which aims to add 69.5 Gigawatts of generation capacity over the next decade.

APPI has assured that the industry will meet the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) requirements for electrical equipment, with the expectation that the government’s electricity programme will stimulate local industry and reduce dependence on imported products.

APPI is also calling for government support in developing local electrical products to compete against the influx of imported goods, including illegal imports from China that are causing concern among domestic producers.

Furthermore, the industry requires enhanced research and innovation, as well as cutting-edge electrical equipment technology, to develop and create products that meet market demands, particularly those of PLN. Additionally, access to affordable financing and contract certainty are critical factors that could drive expansion of Indonesia’s electrical equipment business sector.

The challenges facing Indonesia’s electrical equipment industry development were discussed in detail during Manufacture Check on CNBC Indonesia (Tuesday, 17 February 2026), where host Bunga Cinka spoke with APPI chairman Yohanes Purnawan Widjaja.
