Video: Environment Minister Reveals Reasons No Regions Have Received Adipura Award

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesia’s Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, has assured the government’s commitment to addressing waste problems while preserving the living environment through the Indonesia ASRI Movement (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful). The ASRI Movement, directly initiated by President Prabowo, is implemented via guidance, technical assistance, and law enforcement. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH) is promoting improvements in waste governance in every region, assessed through the Adipura award; unfortunately, no region has received the Adipura yet, as it can only be awarded to local governments that can provide a clean environment for the community. This is expected to encourage local governments to improve waste management, promote a culture of waste handling in society, such as prohibiting landfills from using open dumping systems or open waste disposal, and banning organic waste from entering landfills.
