Data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) shows that as of July 2026, the commercial insurance industry, covering both life and general insurance, successfully recorded total assets of Rp957.07 trillion, representing a 2.54% year-on-year growth, with premium income reaching Rp199.80 trillion, up 2.71% (yoy).

Reflecting on the positive performance of the insurance industry, the President Director of Sun Life Indonesia, Albertus Wiroyo, believes this reflects that insurance remains a necessary service for the public amidst Indonesia’s economic challenges.

Insurance is still regarded as a protection product to face uncertain conditions. In the life insurance sector, new premium growth reached 20.5% throughout the first half of 2026, proving that insurance has become an integral part of public financial planning.

Furthermore, due to the currently low insurance penetration, there is significant potential for increased adoption. Therefore, efforts must be made to enhance public education and literacy regarding the role of insurance, including targeting the younger generation segment. The insurance industry is also leveraging digital technology and the AI era to explore new customer potential and develop products relevant to customer needs.
