Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - CNBC Indonesia presented the Digital Banking Forum 2026 with the theme ‘Building the Future Digital Banking Ecosystem’ as a forum bringing together regulators, industry players, and brands to discuss the potential, challenges, and future direction of digital banking in Indonesia.

Dian Ediana Rae, Executive Head of Banking Supervision and Member of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), confirmed at the Digital Banking Forum 2026 the OJK’s support in encouraging the transformation of the banking industry towards value-added services through the ‘Beyond Banking’ concept.

This is in line with Indonesia’s significant potential in developing the digital economy, which needs to be leveraged by the financial sector, including banking. Currently, 75.6% of Indonesia’s population, dominated by millennials and Gen Z, are proficient in using technology, with 29.1% using online banking services.

The OJK noted several drivers of digital banking service development, including digital service transformation and innovation that encourages e-commerce transactions, as well as strengthening cooperation between banks and fintech firms and startups. This transformation aims not only to drive efficiency but also to create personal, responsive services that reach a broader range of customers.

The OJK has issued various provisions to strengthen digital business models, the implementation of technology-based products and services, and risk management to mitigate increasingly complex cyber and fraud risks. The OJK continues to conduct supervision, including strengthening the governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in banking.

How is the OJK encouraging digital transformation in banking? What is the OJK’s response to reports of cash burning still being carried out by digital banks? Watch the full dialogue between Shania Alatas and Dian Ediana Rae, Executive Head of Banking Supervision and Member of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority, at the Digital Banking Forum 2026, CNBC Indonesia (Thursday, 13/08/2026).
