Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara and Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Body, Dony Oskaria, has revealed that financial engineering is one of the sources of problems at a number of state-owned enterprises (BUMN). According to him, polished financial reports make a company’s condition appear better than it actually is. As a result, company management decisions risk being misguided. Dony said a number of BUMN have carried out impairments with a value reaching hundreds of trillions of rupiah. He also stressed the importance of the independence and credibility of public accountants in auditing BUMN companies.
