The Chairman of the Indonesian Credit Card Association (AKKI), Suharto Nur Cahyo, has confirmed his support for government and regulatory policies aimed at bolstering the credit card business in Indonesia. One key aspect is the extension of payment relief for credit cards until 30 June 2026, provided by Bank Indonesia, which includes a minimum payment of 5% and a maximum late penalty of 1% or Rp100,000. AKKI views this policy as having a positive impact, particularly on the minimum payment aspect, which can strengthen customers’ repayment ability while safeguarding the health of the credit card industry’s portfolio. This could help drive credit card transaction values to increase by 10-15%, even as the growth in the number of cards remains low.
