Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr provide momentum to elevate Indonesia’s economy. During this period, the majority Muslim population in Indonesia engages in extensive shopping and travel activities, such as purchasing items to support fasting worship and the Eid mudik journeys participated in by more than 100 million residents.

The automotive sector is one of the beneficiaries of activities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, with rising demand for new and used vehicles to facilitate Eid mudik travel. Currently, the electric vehicle segment has demonstrated growth of up to 141% in 2025, even as overall car sales have declined.

CNBC Indonesia’s Equity Analyst, Susi Setiawati, notes that electric car prices are considered more efficient and are supported by government incentives. Naturally, the savings from vehicle operations amid the current “difficult” economy present an opportunity for the public to utilise them for investment.
