Video: BRIVolution Reignite and BRI's Expansion to Serve MSMEs and Wealthy Clients
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Group CEO of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), Hery Gunardi, confirmed during an Economic Update the readiness of the BRI Group to support national economic growth, including through the priority programmes of President Prabowo’s administration.
BRI possesses the systems, branch networks, and BRIlink services spread across the remote corners of Indonesia, supported by competent human resources to drive the economy, including through the distribution of Micro Credit (KUR) and social assistance.
BRI also ensures that business growth and credit quality remain maintained even as the BI Rate rises to 5.75%, considering that BRI’s credit distribution in government programmes such as KUR features fixed rates. Nevertheless, the bank continues to strengthen risk management by optimising sectors with high prospects.
In an effort to maintain long-term growth, BRI has implemented transformation programmes to increase operational effectiveness and drive both credit and non-credit income. This transformation focuses on reducing the cost of funds and the cost of credit through the optimisation of branch office infrastructure, BRIlink services, enhancing BRImo programmes and transactions, and driving business merchant activity.
In the micro-credit sector, BRI is improving business processes by utilising technology, which has resulted in increased interest margins while reducing provisioning. Furthermore, through ‘BRIVolution Reignite’, BRI is also driving strategic initiatives to address the increasingly competitive challenges within the banking industry.
BRI is also undergoing rebranding so that it is not only a strong bank in rural areas but is also capable of providing services in urban areas through consumer segments, including wealthy clients and private banking. BRI continues to drive its growth engine through business diversification.
Regarding the plan for BBRI to conduct a share buyback of up to Rp500 billion between 12 June and 11 September 2026 using the company’s internal cash, Hery Gunardi stated that this strategy is part of the corporate response to developments in the stock market.
