Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - CNBC Indonesia, in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, presents the Central Banking Forum 2026 with the theme “Indonesia’s Economic Resilience in Facing Global Exchange Rate Volatility”. The forum will thoroughly discuss Indonesia’s responses and those of monetary authorities to global challenges, while strengthening national economic resilience and maintaining market confidence and positive perspectives.

Bank Indonesia’s Senior Deputy Governor, Destry Damayanti, at the Central Banking Forum 2026, conveyed Bank Indonesia’s steps in addressing global geopolitical turbulence and maintaining Rupiah exchange rate stability.

BI views the US-Israel vs Iran war as having multi-sectoral and multi-market impacts, where the depth of the Middle East war’s effect on the economy is influenced by factors such as intensity, scale of damage, and duration of the war. On the financial channel, there are risks of rising US Treasury yields up to increased inflation, from commodity prices resulting in surges in oil and gold prices, as well as disruptions in trade and production channels.

On the exchange rate side, the Middle East war impacts the weakening of the Rupiah and the outflow of capital from emerging market countries, including Indonesia.

To address this situation, BI is optimising monetary operation instruments and is active in the market, both in the spot market and NDF as well as DNDF, and expanding the DNDF base in the offshore market while ensuring market liquidity remains maintained.
