Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission XII Chair, Bambang Patijaya, has addressed the rolling blackouts currently occurring in several areas across Java, Bali, and Madura. Bambang stated that rolling blackouts in the Java, Madura, and Bali regions are rare, given that this transmission network is a vital area where energy supply continuity is strictly maintained. Based on the DPR RI’s monitoring, two causes have been identified: two power plants are currently undergoing maintenance, and there is a supply issue with medium-calorie coal (4,200-4,500 kcal/kg), even though the domestic market obligation (DMO) supply is confirmed to be sufficient. To resolve this issue, the medium-calorie coal supply will be provided by major producers such as PTBA and Adaro, so that PLN’s electricity supply problems will be gradually restored. Bambang also reminded businesses to ensure compliance with DMO regulations to guarantee national energy security. Going forward, the DPR RI will provide room for businesses and PLN to maintain a balance and evaluate supply and pricing. For further details on the DPR RI’s explanation regarding the 2026 Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) which cuts domestic production, watch the full dialogue between Maria Katarina and Commission XII Chair Bambang Patijaya on CNBC Indonesia’s Economic Update (Tuesday, 23/06/2026).
