PT Badak NGL President Director & CEO Achmad Khoiruddin has confirmed the company’s support in strengthening national energy security, particularly regarding the planned programme to convert subsidised LPG to compressed natural gas (CNG). Currently, PT Badak NGL primarily produces LNG and LPG, but is also supporting innovation to back government programmes. To meet national energy needs, the company is focusing on driving refinery efficiency to increase LNG production, supported by the development of the LPG Production Booster System (LPBS) technology. LNG can be used for mining vehicles and potentially for trains, while the use of CNG for households is being further studied to reduce LPG imports. On the upstream side, potential gas reserves have been discovered, including the Geliga and Gula blocks with a potential of 7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas. To prepare for processing this additional gas supply, PT Badak NGL is conducting assessments for the reactivation of refinery trains and preparing competent human resources at the refinery.
