Jakarta — Raditya Endra Budiman, Chief Executive of Dharma Jaya, has confirmed the security of meat stocks in DKI Jakarta throughout Ramadan and the forthcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH celebrations.

Dharma Jaya maintains 1,000 tonnes of meat as stockpiles for the next three months and is supported by private sector meat supplies to accommodate anticipated 5–10 per cent demand increases.

Nevertheless, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing for potential meat price rises, given the weakening rupiah against the US dollar amid global geopolitical tensions. This concern is rooted in Indonesia’s continued reliance on imported meat supplies, particularly from Australia, although meat from Brazil and India could serve as more affordable alternative sources.

Jakarta authorities have prioritised securing adequate supplies and managing price volatility during the high-demand Ramadan and Lebaran period, whilst exploring diverse sourcing options to mitigate the impacts of currency fluctuations and international supply chain disruptions.
