Social assistance remains one of the government’s instruments for maintaining public purchasing power, according to Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). This is achieved both through direct intervention for the poor and through subsidies to preserve the purchasing power of the middle class.

Commission XI is also monitoring the realisation of public spending derived from the distribution of social assistance and government subsidies. The distribution must be accelerated so that its impact can be felt quickly. The DPR is also strengthening oversight of state budget spending to maximise its effect on the public economy.

DPR RI also considers it important for the government to anticipate global geopolitical turmoil and the era of high interest rates. Incentives are therefore needed to curb capital outflow, such as strengthening and increasing transparency in the capital market, as well as establishing the Indonesian International Financial Centre (PFII).

Regarding maintaining investor perception of the successor to the Governor of Bank Indonesia, the DPR stated that a figure is needed who can carry out the mandate of the law.
