Video: As Medical Inflation Soars, Could Telemedicine Be the Solution?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The surge in medical inflation, which is predicted to continue, has been identified by Halodoc’s Chief Operating Officer, Alfonsius Pratama Timboel, as one of the challenges facing the nation’s healthcare industry. Amid the current high medical inflation, telemedicine services are expected to provide a solution for patients to access healthcare and medication. Patients can use telemedicine applications without having to queue at healthcare facilities such as clinics and hospitals, while corporations can reduce healthcare costs. Strengthening telemedicine services is currently needed to meet patient treatment and healthcare needs with health workers, in order to curb the rise in medical inflation. On the other hand, telemedicine services are predominantly utilised by urban communities who are already educated about digital health services, so efforts are needed to encourage the use of telemedicine outside urban areas.
