Video: AI Will Not Replace Teachers' Roles, But Will Help Improve the Quality of Education in Indonesia

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - CNBC Indonesia is presenting the Tech & Telco Forum 2026 with the theme “Building a Safer Digital Nation: From Connectivity to Cyber Resilience,” which will explore strategies, prospects, and challenges for Indonesia in strengthening cybersecurity to support national digital transformation.

Arif Jamali, Director of Secondary Education and Special Education Teachers at the Indonesian Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, at the Tech & Telco Forum 2026, explained how teachers and education personnel respond to technological developments to support progress in national education.

Teachers must be able to interpret technological advancements, including AI, to support the education system and students’ learning experiences, but AI cannot replace teachers’ roles or the importance of student-teacher interaction.

Technology can help make education high-quality and effective if teachers utilise it to design learning that encourages students to understand, apply, and reflect on knowledge.
