Video: Addressing Jakarta's Traffic and Waste Issues - DPR Pushes for Improvements
The Chairman of the Jakarta DPRD, Suhud Alynudin, has ensured support through policy strengthening and oversight from the DPRD regarding the Jakarta Provincial Government’s transformation towards ‘5 Centuries of Jakarta’ and the realisation of its Global City vision.
A number of issues requiring improvement are under the DPRD’s attention, including traffic congestion and pollution, which can diminish the quality of life for the capital’s residents. Consequently, the DPRD is working towards improving regional regulations (Perda) concerning waste, regulations related to groundwater issues to curb land subsidence, and rules to tackle pollution through the use of electricity in public transport.
Regarding the discourse on adjusting public transport fares, the DPRD stated that this is primarily intended for services in buffer areas, such as Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi, and ensured that the adjustments will not be significant or burdensome to citizens.
