Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Secretary General of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Sarwo Edhy, has confirmed the government’s efforts to maintain national food price and stock stability during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026. Bapanas has several programmes for stabilising food prices and stocks, ranging from strengthening government and regional food reserves, implementing the affordable food movement down to the sub-district/village level, and running the food distribution facilitation programme (FDP) to distribute food from surplus areas to deficit areas. In addition, Bapanas has formed the Saber Pangan Task Force for Cleaning Up Food Violations, involving elements from the National Police (Polri), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), and the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), tasked with monitoring strategic staple goods such as rice, corn, soybeans, meat, eggs, cooking oil, various onions and chillies, as well as consumption salt and sugar. This Saber Pangan Task Force will ensure the availability of food stocks and prices, and if there is a surge in food prices, it will investigate the causes and anticipatory measures. If hoarding occurs or there are major players manipulating prices, they will be dealt with, including having their permits revoked. On the other hand, Bapanas also has a stimulus Food Assistance programme in February-March 2026, providing 10 kg of rice and 2 kg of cooking oil to 33.5 million Beneficiary Families across Indonesia.
