Video: 160,000 State Civil Servants to Retire; Will CPNS Selection Occur in 2026?
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPAN-RB) has registered 160,000 state civil servants (ASN) retiring in 2025. This situation signals potential opportunities for recruitment and selection of Civil Service Candidates (CPNS) in 2026.
Aba Subagja, Deputy for State Apparatus Human Resources at KemenPAN-RB, stated that the need for additional ASN continues as approximately 160,000 state civil servants retire annually. However, plans for CPNS selection to fill the positions left vacant by retiring ASN are also contingent upon budgetary availability from the Ministry of Finance.
Currently, there are 6.5 million ASN. Of this figure, an oversupply of ASN was identified in 2024, necessitating a reassessment of which positions require additional staff. This review is essential to optimise the performance of public services.
