Victim's Family Denies Kinship with Pitbull Owner

The family of a young girl who was attacked by a pitbull has denied reports of a familial relationship with the dog’s owner. The victim’s uncle, Deilham Maulana (28), said several pieces of incorrect information have been widely circulated.

“The victim and the dog owner are not related,” Deilham said, as reported by detikJabar on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

He explained that, based on the information circulating, a miscommunication occurred during assistance at the hospital. He suspects this misunderstanding was then absorbed as fact by the police.

“Perhaps when the dog owner was talking with the victim’s family, there was a remark like ‘sugan we tina kejadian ieu teh urang bisa jadi dulur tina musibah ieu teh’ (Hopefully, from this incident, we can all become like family). That may have been the statement,” he said.

He added that the family is currently focused on the victim’s treatment and recovery. The girl suffered severe injuries to her head and ears.

“For now, the victim’s family is still focused on her treatment. Thank God, surgery has also been carried out,” he explained.
