Jakarta, VIVA – The audacious actions of a gang of fraudsters posing as employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have finally been uncovered. Four perpetrators were apprehended by a joint team from the KPK and Metro Jaya Police after allegedly extorting a member of parliament for hundreds of millions of rupiah.

The victim in this case is no ordinary person. Police have confirmed that the targeted parliamentarian is Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI.

“True (the victim is Ahmad Sahroni),” stated the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner of Police Budi Hermanto, on Friday, 10 April 2026.

The case began with a report filed by Sahroni to Metro Jaya Police on Thursday night, 9 April 2026. He claimed to have been extorted by the perpetrators who were impersonating KPK officials. Police revealed that the modus operandi was quite serious. The perpetrators not only demanded money but also allegedly threatened the victim.

“The report concerns threats and extortion allegedly carried out by individuals impersonating a public institution related to case handling,” he said.

In their actions, the victim was asked to hand over a large sum of money. Indeed, the money had already been given before the case was reported to the police.

“The demanded money handover to the victim amounted to Rp300 million, so it was reported by the victim to Metro Jaya Police,” he said.

It did not stop there; the perpetrators also allegedly invoked the names of KPK leaders to convince the victim. This is now being investigated further by the investigators.

“The individual also has information from the KPK side regarding allegations of tarnishing the names of KPK leaders. We will delve into this information, as there is a report from a parliament member related to the case,” he said.

Previously reported, a joint team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Metro Jaya Police arrested four individuals suspected of posing as employees of the anti-corruption agency on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

The four fake employees also claimed they could arrange the handling of suspected corruption cases at the KPK.

“The suspected perpetrators were secured in the West Jakarta area,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters, as quoted from ANTARA, on Friday, 10 April 2026.
