Vice Presidential Palace Completed: When Will Gibran Office in IKN? Basuki's Response

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, has spoken out regarding the plans for Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka to office in IKN.

Previously, during a working meeting (raker) with OIKN on Monday (30/3/2026), Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, inquired about the rumour that Vice President Gibran would start officing in IKN this year. He asked whether the rumour was true and if the Vice President could begin officing there this year.

“There was a rumour earlier, apparently Vice President Gibran wants to office in IKN, any news on that, sir? Could the Vice President office in IKN this year, sir?” said Chairman of Commission II of DPR RI, Rifqinizamy, during the raker with the Head of OIKN on Monday (30/3/2026).

Basuki responded that preparations have already begun, with 50 presidential staff sent to IKN for the preparations.

“I think yes, because 50 staff (presidential) have already been assigned there for the preparations. Hopefully, he can soon office in IKN,” Basuki replied.

However, his side did not confirm when Vice President Gibran would start officing in IKN. He only assured that it is possible for Gibran to begin officing this year.

“Insyaallah, he can office this year,” Basuki continued.

Separately, when met by reporters, Basuki was optimistic that Vice President Gibran could office in IKN this year, considering that the construction of the Vice Presidential Palace in IKN has been completed.

“Regarding the news of the Vice President’s plan to office in IKN, I think that’s just a leak, just planning, and just preparations. So I hope it happens, that he can office in IKN. I hope he can office in IKN this year because the building (Vice Presidential Palace) is already completed,” he explained.
