Kupang (ANTARA) - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka has urged all Indonesians to jointly safeguard unity and cohesion, as well as tolerance, amid the conflict in the Middle East.

“As a diverse and multifaceted nation, we must maintain unity, peace, and the values of tolerance,” said Vice President Gibran in Kupang on Monday, while delivering a speech at the 30th Easter Parade 2026 organised by the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT).

The Vice President warned against allowing differences to become divisive among fellow citizens, religions, and the nation.

He also cautioned against being easily provoked by various hoaxes spreading across social media platforms.

As a strong nation, the former Mayor of Solo urged all citizens to support and remain united with one another. Because, according to him, no country can undertake development in an unstable, disunited, and divided condition.

He conveyed his thanks and appreciation to GMIT for their ongoing efforts in maintaining peace, not only in NTT but in other regions as well.

“This causes shocks in other countries. And one of the lessons we can take is that conflict and war bring regression and a very high price that must be paid, not only by the conflicting parties but also by others,” stated Vice President Gibran.

On that occasion, the Vice President also handed over a peace torch to the Easter Parade participants as part of the call for peace worldwide amid conflicts and wars in various countries.
