Vice-President Try Sutrisno Passes Away; Palace Expresses Deep Condolences

Indonesia’s sixth Vice-President General Try Sutrisno (retired) died at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto hospital in Central Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026 in the morning.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi conveyed condolences over Try Sutrisno’s passing. He described Try Sutrisno as one of the finest sons of the nation.

“Regarding the news of the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice-President, General (Retired) Try Sutrisno, we certainly feel very deep sorrow,” Prasetyo told journalists on Monday, 2 March 2026.

“He was one of Indonesia’s finest sons who devoted his entire life to serving the nation and state,” he added.

Prasetyo then requested all parties to pray for the late vice-president Try Sutrisno.

Earlier reports confirmed that Indonesia’s sixth Vice-President General (Retired) Try Sutrisno died at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto hospital in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026 at approximately 06:58 WIB.

“That is correct (former Vice-President Try Sutrisno has passed away),” said retired Lieutenant General Try Sutrisno, former head of RSPAD, when contacted on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The body of the deceased Try Sutrisno will be taken to a funeral home at Jalan Purwakarta Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
