Karo (ANTARA) - The Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has ensured that students affected by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, will receive the best possible healthcare and medication.

“My visit here is to ensure that your children can recover and return to school. They will receive the best healthcare services and medicines. I visited them one by one to see what is needed. Whether they require a referral to Jakarta or Medan, we will certainly fulfil it,” he stated in Karo on Friday.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, alongside the Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, inspected the condition of several students affected by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu in Karo Regency on Friday.

Upon arriving at Efarina Etaham Hospital in Karo Regency, the Vice President was welcomed by Governor Bobby Nasution, the Regent of Karo Antonius Ginting, and the Director of Efarina Etaham Hospital.

Gibran and Bobby subsequently visited each student undergoing treatment in the Karawang Ward of Efarina Etaham Hospital.

The two leaders also engaged in dialogue with the students’ families to listen directly to their grievances and needs.

During the meeting, several parents expressed their hope that follow-up medical examinations and treatments for their children would be covered by the government.

Gibran personally inquired about the symptoms experienced by the students and ensured that the government would bear all medical costs until they are declared fully recovered.

“Please, Governor, we will cover all these costs,” he said.

Responding to this, Governor Bobby Nasution requested that parents report their children’s health conditions. He has instructed the Head of the Health Office and relevant regional agencies to immediately follow up on the various complaints raised by the families.

In addition to medical treatment, the North Sumatra Provincial Government is also paying attention to the psychological well-being of the students.

“The recovery process for these students does not end once they receive medical treatment. The government will continue to provide assistance to ensure their physical and psychological health continues to improve,” said Bobby.

After visiting Efarina Etaham Hospital, Vice President Gibran and Governor Bobby also visited a student undergoing treatment at Amanda Hospital on Jalan Lintas Desa Korpri, Berastagi, Karo Regency.

Gibran reaffirmed that the medical treatment process and the availability of medicines for patients must run optimally.

He emphasised that the government will bear all medical expenses, so that families do not need to worry about financial issues.

“We have confirmed with the Governor that all costs will be handled by the government. We are also providing options to the families regarding whether the child should be referred to a hospital in Medan or even to a hospital in Jakarta,” Gibran said.
